In 1860, Secondo Crivelli settled in Castagnole Monferrato and began making wine.

His great grandson, Marco Crivelli, expanded the property by 8 hectares and purchased the famous ‘Montio Hill’ parcel. Passionate about preservation of the land and the area’s indigenous grapes, especially Ruchè, Marco served as President of the Ruchè consortium and as responsible for the area being recognized with DOCG status in 2010.

Zero chemicals are used in the vineyards. Grapes are from sustainably farmed vines in limestone and sandy soil.

Transparent garnet in colour with aromas of cherry, strawberry, chipotle pepper, baking spice trace of candied violet.

Wild berries, cherry and roasted herbs wrap around a spicy core, accented by bright acidity and firm tannins.

A mineral undercurrent runs thru fruit and spice on the lengthy finish.

For 6 generations the Morando Family has been devoted to making wine in the Monferrato and Langhe hills in Piemonte.

Since the 1980’s, the family has been passionately dedicated to the preservation, development and recognition of the rare, traditional Ruchè grape.

Currently they have 82 hectares of Ruchè, making them the largest privately-owned producer of Ruchè wine.

The estate is farmed using eco-sustainable methods, all vineyard work is done by hand and fermentation is with native yeasts. Aged in stainless steel tanks. ‘Laccento’ is the name of the vineyard the grapes are sourced from.

Transparent ruby red in colour, with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, brambly brush, hibiscus, white pepper and a trace of eucalyptus.

Silky layers of wild strawberry, raspberry, cranberry and white pepper are framed by tangy acidity and black tea tannins.

A savoury undercurrent compliments red fruit dusted with crushed black peppercorn on the velvety finish.

A fantastic, silky synthesis of fruit and spice.

Transparent dark ruby in colour, with vivid aromas of strawberry, raspberry and a drop of black currant liqueur. Wild berries and clove chase around black pepper and a wisp of smoky earth, followed by tingly acidity. A streak of minerality compliments the boney dry finish. Charismatic, engaging and mercurial, one of my favourite grapes and wine!

Iconic, legendary, 5th generation winemaker Giuseppe “Beppo” Rinaldi was renowned for his strict adherence to traditional methods and crafting some of the greatest Barolo.

His daughters Carlotta and Marta had been working alongside him, today they head the renowned estate.

Organically farmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, unfiltered.

Red violet in colour with aromas of strawberry, rose petal, raspberry, black cherry, black pepper, roasted poblano and earth.

Cherry, blackberry, raspberry, red currant, black pepper and earthy minerality are framed by silky tannins and fresh acidity.

Red berries linger on the spice driven, dry finish.

Located in Piedmont, in northwestern Italy, many regard Castagnole Monferrato as the birthplace of Ruché, and rather fittingly, Eugenio Gatti has the oldest vineyard of Ruché grapes in existence.

La Miraja is ensconced in the original 11th century castle of Castagnole Monferrato, and Eugenio Gatti is the 7th generation of his family to produce wine there.

Transparent red violet in colour with aromas of juicy berries, peppery spice and a floral trace.

Silky layers of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, cherry and pomegranate are complimented by rich clove and an herbaceous undercurrent and backed by fresh acidity and fine tannins.

The flavours maintain and elongate the aromas, with red currant, cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, earth framed by good acidity and silky tannins over a spicy core of crushed black peppercorn and baking spice.

Tangy fruit, a drizzle of caramel and spice linger between each silky sip.
