Certainly no shrinking violet here, just pure Barossa class at its best. Grant Burge Meshach 2008, magnum, 1500ml of outstanding grape juice from 100 year old Barossa Shiraz vines. Awesome stuff! ⁣

Domain A Pinot Noir 2005 from the Cool River Valley in southern Tasmania...

It’s deep, layered, spicy and savoury all at once on the nose. Age has treated this very well. On the palate the primary fruit flavours of dark cherry, plum and rose petals have begun to integrate into the more savoury side with underbrush and dried herbs. Long, long finish to round things up. It’s a very classy wine. I wish I had a few more left! ⁣​

Clonakilla can do no wrong in my eyes. Their Shiraz Viognier is exceptional. However, perhaps not an everyday wine. This Hiltop’s Shiraz, 2017, on the other hand is a ripper. Everything about this wine from the sight, smell and taste is awesome and for its price it takes an awful lot to beat. Buy! 🍷

_dixon and this is no exception. Pinot Nouveau 2018 is such a glugable flavour bomb perfect for those warm summer days. That being said, it certainly isn’t a one track wine showing simple fruits, but a delicate raspberry, red fruit, festival of flavour with a carbonic edge. Love it, want more, will get more!!⁣

. The Black Label, first released in 1954, is made using the top 20-25% of Terra Rossa grown Cabernet Sauvignon each year. It’s a beautiful wine with a strong reputation for extended cellaring. I’ve enjoyed many over 15 years old and they’re fantastic. Have you tried it?  How do you rate it? ⁣

The 2012, still a baby, shows deep red / purple in the glass. On the nose it’s bright, intense, and deep, think cassis and dark fruits. Tasting is a pleasure, violets, dark fruits and a savory edge starting to emerge with firm tannins that’ll integrate well over time. Fantastic wine, buy while it’s still good value!! ⁣

 Descendent 2015 is a Barossa Shiraz Viognier, 92% Shiraz / 8% Viognier, made from Runrig cuttings planted in 1994. It was one of my standout wines when I visited Torbreck a few months back. So much so I left with a few. Dark fruits, earthy, olive like characteristics and peppery charcuterie to finish. It’ll definitely benefit from a rest and a good decant.

If you’re planning a trip to the Barossa make sure Torbreck is on your list. The range is awesome, the Cellar Door is beautiful and the people were fantastic! —

Shiraz-Cabernet is a ripper. Awesome colour, beautiful dark ruby. Sweet, ripe, stewed fruits on the nose. Followed by rich, generous, cherry and raspberry on the palate. Loved it 👍🏽🍷🙌 🍷 ⁣​

⁣They don’t come much more iconic or better than this from the Mclaren Vale.

Inky and dark red in the glass. Dark fruits, blackberries and dark cherries on the nose with a sniff of oak. Solid tannins and juicy acidity combine to support the concentrated dark fruit profile. Think mulberry and brambles, plums and blackberry with earthiness and graphite. It’s a ripper! 🍷

Why’s it called the Dead Arm? Well, dead arm is a vine disease caused by the fungus Eutypa Lata that randomly affects vineyards all over the world. Often affected vines are severely pruned or replanted. One half, or an 'arm' of the vine slowly becomes reduced to dead wood. That side may be lifeless and brittle, but the grapes on the other side, while low yielding, display amazing intensity. This 2016 will go for years and years! 🍷

⁣🍷 The key to this wine is to resist getting stuck in immediately and letting⁣ it breath for 30 minutes, that’s all. Whole-bunch, vegetal, herbal aromas, dark⁣ fruits, and a saline edge. The structure is phenomenal, complexly is there in⁣ buckets, texture and length exceptional. ⁣

⁣🍷 It’s a trademark Pinot Noir from the By Farr stable and a wine that only⁣ get better with age. It’s hard to believe it could!⁣ ⁣ ​

 especially the flagship Shiraz, Grains of Paradise 2013. Easily one of the great wines produced in the Barossa thanks to the dry grown, 80+ year old grape vine that produce exceptional quality. ⁣

​Complex and fragrant on the nose, with dark fruit, plum and oak assuring a medium-bodied highly elegant expression of Barossa Shiraz. Awesomeness in a bottle! You could pay a lot more money for a wine from the Barossa and still not beat this. Well played Charles Melton!⁣

​Easing my way into the week with a cheeky Pinot Noir by⁣ Tamar Ridge. This 2016 is a rich, complex little number, generous on the nose offering ripe cherry and red fruits with a feint spice and savoury element coming through.⁣

There’s a good balance of red fruits, acidity, and fine⁣ tannins on the palate with a relatively longish finish. Not a blockbuster, but a pretty decent way to start the week! ⁣Happy Monday!

A mixture of Barossa and Eden Valley fruit from vines⁣ averaging 88 years old spanning 9 vineyards. It’s a masterpiece and beyond elegant! Deep, dark blackberry, blueberry notes and fresh coffee on the nose. Medium⁣ bodied, powerful yet refined flavours of dark fruits, plums, blueberries, and savoury earth notes on the palate. Long, finish!

If you’ve not tried Barossa / Eden Valley blends this is⁣ right up there. Get it on your list. Enjoyment factor maxed!!⁣

 the Amon–Ra 2015. Sometimes you just need a quintessential Barossa shiraz and this ticks all the boxes. Black fruit, blue fruit, charred meats, coffee-like notes and a touch of vanilla on the nose. On the palate it continues with complexity and muscle in a very elegant almost graceful way. Cassis and blackberry lead the way on the palate with velvety tannins and very long finish. Definitely one for the cellar and a very classy wine!!⁣
