Recommendation: I have already bought more. 🍷

So as my previous post outlined this got 97 from James Halliday, which puts it into the ‘Exceptional’ class.

Initial thoughts I’m smelling a bag of red frogs. Which is beautiful. Taste is light but heavier than other Grenache varieties I had recently. The flavour then reveals a unique edge and I instantly feel that same way that Barossa Shiraz is different. A lot more meatier. Edgier. Raspberry is my end flavour. Great length.

This is a great value wine and a uniquely Barossa spin on Grenache.

This was such a hard decision and I think of James Halliday as Mr Wine Australia. So, when he says 97 points I have an expectation of the wine. A previous knowledge of how good these are can be. I think this clouded my judgment. I think I was wanting more. This was a tough decision. For me it was between a B+ and an A-

I have bought more. Definitely would love to know your thoughts.

At that point you just need to end the day with a wine.

Like most people to race to the local or the large chain bottle. Then you find yourself in the aisle trying choose something as fast as you can. Faced with that “umming and ahhhing” one of my recommendations is just pick a Jim Barry.

This Barry & Sons Cabernet Sauvignon easily available and a bonus is it is on special at the moment.

A good quality Cabernet Sauvignon, that will please most. It gives you everything you need for that midweek demand and perfect when calling into the bottle ‘because you need a wine’

$20 later and I’m sure you will happy...simple...

 are made this could last for ages but now to 8 years would be great.

1. I always buy Elizabeth. I think bang for your buck it is one of the best Hunter Semillons around, and a lot cheaper than Lovedale.

2. I think Elizabeth ages magnificently. They are superb examples of aged semillon, especially after a few years.

So after that, where am I after tasting the current release of the 2018 vintage?

I really enjoyed it. I will be buying a few for the cellar. This one is crisp and loads of that Hunter taste and length I want. I will be interested to see how this one develops but am just happy my love has continued for Elizabeth...simple...

I don't think Petaluma makes a bad wine. The whites are seriously good and the reds seem to tick all of my boxes. I recently had a 2015 Adelaide HIlls Shiraz and god it was good. Just a few extra years and the development was outstanding. Year on year they make wines that are above average.

Easy to buy at most large bottle shops. Even the Merlot (and you know I don't really review merlot) is very good. A review on that later.

A real consistent winery that I would recommend to anyone...simple...

Ok strap yourself in 🎢 This is brilliant 👏 The best wine for $20. (at this point I'm dropping the mic 🎤 and walking 🚶‍♂️ away but it doesn't have as much impact when your reading)

Colour: Dark purple nearly black (it looks like that 90's grunge girl with black hair & purple streaks 🤘)

Smell: I could happily smell this for decades.

Taste: Low yield richness, complex and intense flavour that is so smooth it boarders on being ridiculous especially that this wine is $20.

You know its good when non-wine drinker says “Wow. That is nice". I love that moment...simple...

Entry level Adelaide Hills Chardonnay from the Penfolds label.

Light, soft even a bit shy compared to a normal Chardonnay I usually have but still shows the quality and style I expect from

 No heavy oak or buttery flavour, a little more lime or zest and creamy texture.

Young and Co have hit the bottle shop shelves with some eye catching and creative labels. I can clearly see why people would pick this off the crowded shelf at the local bottlo. I love their labels.

Can I understand why people would buy this wine: Absolutely

An Argentinian wine with a medium body and some sweetness at the end. I can see why people would like this style and a great introduction into some different styles.

Recommendation: Ridiculous value for money

Wines will be scored out of 20 and then given a grade of A+ to C- (just like school) with A+ being exceptional down to C being 10 out of 20. A C- (9 out of 10) is classed as very close or at least with a try (maybe it was so cheap with is worth a post)

Wines will be given a score based on Taste & Quality, Value for Money and a category of Wine Factor.

Taste and Quality gets the most points of 10. Of course taste and quality is the most important factor and overall includes everything I’ve listed in the photo. .
