Wild Duck Creek Estate Springflat Shiraz 2019, a more than appropriate way to end the week. I just wish I had a fireplace, a dog, and a leather armchair to max the experience, maybe even a pipe. The first thing that grabs your attention is the colour, dark purple, black at the core, with purple edges, and then the aroma, intense is the word. Plums, blackberry, black cherry, cedar and clove all there in spades. The palate’s similarly intense though velvety smooth with dark fruit everywhere at once, spice and acidity keep it taught and honest as do the fine tannins that lend a touch of dryness. As expected the finish is rather impressive, goes loooooong! 👌🏽🍷🙏🏼
