Tassie Merlot from Grey Sands Vineyard, 2010, a treat given the lockdown extension. Why not hey?! Very nice this, 11 years on and it’s in a beautiful place. Still very fresh and vibrant on the nose, complex, very merlot, elegant, blackberry, black raspberry, ripe plum, dried florals, sweet pipe tobacco, and a touch of oak. The palate has a real plushness to it, juicy dark fruits, almost Zin-like, ripe but balanced, blackberries, dark cherry, blackcurrant, all so very integrated with spice and tannin, quite complete, great length. I wouldn’t mind a few more of these in the cellar👌🏽🍷🙏🏼
