2017 Thacher - Valdiguié Shell Creek Vineyard @thacherwinery 🍇 Have you tried Valdiguié? ℹ️ This wine is 💯 Valdiguié from the Shell Creek Vineyard in the Paso Robles Highland District AVA in California. The grapes were hand-harvested with 30% left as whole cluster, followed by indigenous yeast fermentation. The wine was aged in neutral barrels for 12 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. 👁 Deep ruby color with a hazy rim 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of ripe black cherry, pomegranate juice, cherry cough syrup, blueberry preserves, violets, and a slight herbal note (fern). 👄 The wine is dry, medium acidity, medium dusty tannins, high alcohol (14.5%), and medium body. The palate shows a touch of the minimal intervention being a tad foxy. A medium- length finish of ripe black fruits. 🔔 Valdiguié always reminds me of a darker and higher-octane version of Gamay. Everything about it is right down the middle until you get to the alcohol. Kudos to Thacher because the wine holds 14.5% quite well, not coming off hot. Humble and honest wine. #vin #lovewine #🍷 #wineterroir #wine #pasorobles #thacher #valdiguie #valdigui ié #pasorobleswine #pasowine #pasorobleswinecountry
