2016 Chateau Musar - Hochar Père et Fils @chateaumusar ℹ️
1/17/2021, 10:45:09 AM 2016 Chateau Musar - Hochar Père et Fils @chateaumusar ℹ️ The wine is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. The average vine age is 40 to 60 years old that are planted at 900 m asl. The wine was fermented in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts and then aged six months in French oak barrels before being bottled. 👁 Medium+ ruby color 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of ripe red plum, stewed strawberry, prune, leather, herbes de provenance, fennel, and woolly. 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ drying tannins, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), and medium+ body. A medium length finish of fruit leather and dried herbs. 🔔 Although this is not a "second wine," it is cut from a similar cloth from Chateau Musar Red. The nose showcases a wide variety of ripe to stewed to dried fruit on the nose. This wine has a touch of balsamic reduction (VA) and leather/woolly (Brett?). Those are classic examples of beautiful faults when in small quantities, can add charm. Not off-putting on this wine, but they are there. If you are interested in exploring Chateau Musar's wines, this might be a better place to start than the Jeune series based on the tasting profile. 💰~$31 #vin #lovewine #🍷 #wineterroir #wine #musar #chateau #chateaumusar #bekaavalley #lebanon
