The wine is 💯 Nebbiolo. Sourced from these Barolo Vineyards: Liste, Cannubi, Cannubi San Lorenzo, Fossati, and San Pietro delle Viole. The vineyards all have a south or southeast exposure, and the soils are Calcareous and Clay Marl. 1978 is considered a great vintage in Barolo. 👁 Medium garnet core with a pale tawny rim 👃 Pronounced intensity on the nose. Aromas of dried leaves, tobacco, black truffles, dried red cherry, dried red currant, dried strawberry, roses, thyme, anise, vintage leather, earthy, and Pu'er tea. 👄 The wine is dry, high acidity, medium grippy tannins, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), and medium body. A long length finish that shows flavors of dried red fruits, roses, and Pu'er tea. 🔔 This bottle was a gift a few years ago from my wife that she purchased directly from the importer. Given the cork condition, it was likely recorked and was a late release from the winery. This stunning bottle speaks to the aging potential of the 1978 vintage. The tannins still had quite a bit of grip, which must have been brutally tannic when young. The bouquet was continually evolving in the glass, while the acidity drove the wine on the palate. This was a beautiful wine representing a little piece of Piedmontese history. #vin #lovewine #🍷 #wineterroir #wine #barolo #piedmont #piemonte #riserva #borgogno
