Prieuré Roch Vin de Table Blanc 2017, perhaps the most
12/21/2021, 10:45:18 AM Prieuré Roch Vin de Table Blanc 2017, perhaps the most interesting wine I’ve tried this year. Interesting for a couple of reasons. Firstly it challenged my expectations of what white Burgundy should or could be. A Jura-esque wine made in Burgundy is a little unusual, to my knowledge at least. Secondly the whole experience is interesting. Google it and you’ll find bugger all. It’s an enigma wine, to those experiencing it for the first time anyway. So the wine itself... The nose is pretty gorgeous, baked apples, orange rind, and apricot, slightly saline, with a little spice complexity too. The palate, hmm, textural, funky, saline, dried fruit and mineral, good, but perhaps a little low in acidity to really excite. In summary, it’s an experience.
