Picardy Shiraz 2017, Pemberton, a wine I’ve not tried before which is slightly odd considering a) I love shiraz and b) Picardy are a fave. The wine itself, very well made, packed with flavour, polished and complete. Equal parts fruit and spice on the nose, red cherry, dark plums, mulchy and peppery with a bit of cigar box in the mix too. The palate is weighted beautifully, medium-bodied, and fine. Plums, dark cherry, and dried cranberry flavours all there, oak and cedar spiced tannins too. Plenty of quality on show here, top drop.
