11/22/2021, 4:16:14 PM ⭐️84/100⭐️ Domaine Genot-Boulanger Chambolle-Musigny, 2007 📍Meursault, Côte-d’Or, Bourgogne, France🇫🇷 🍇 100% Pinot Noir ⚡️13 % Tasted: October 2020 The domaine is a family business run by fourth generation, Guillaume and Aude, who took over the winery in 2008 (meaning that this wine is the last from the earlier generation’s philosophy and winemaking style). Guillaume and Aude are aiming towards even higher quality, and chose to convert into organic farming practices while experimenting with biodynamics. Like most other wineries of Bourgogne, they are searching for finesse and terroir-based wines - very classic (and very good).
I was lucky to taste most of their portfolio from the 2016/17/18 vintages (reds and whites) at @ottosuensonvinhandel , and I must say that the quality is insanely high! The wine is carefully made with mild extraction from the grapes to secure a light and feminine style.
The wine ages 18 months before bottling (12 months in oak barrels of which 20% are new // 6 months in big oak vats) The bouquet opened up faster than expected, offering delicate notes of light, red berries, dried cranberry, black hibiscus tea, dead rose petals, moss and mushrooms. The palate was ultra light with very gentle tannins and a noticeable acidity. It wasn’t as complex as the bouquet, only only showing some raspberry, cranberry, black tea and pepper.
