Picardy Tête de Cuvée 2017, flying the flag for premium Pinot Noir in WA, and as far as flags go it’s a beaut. Comes across quite Burgundian on the nose, not a comparator I like to use often, an observation nonetheless. Cherries and cranberry, herbal, and earthy, meaty almost, very polished. Polished on the palate too, super smooth yet structured, red berries, a pinch of mulberry, twigs and ground coffee add a savoury dimension, tannins are very fine. It’s a class act this. Drinking beautifully now, although there’s no rush, it’s only going to get better from here.
