9/5/2021, 9:32:32 PM The Pira family has been growing grapes in Serralunga d’Alba, the eastern part of Barolo since the 1950’s. Vines are 30+ years in age, in a 2 hectare, organically farmed vineyard, northwestern exposure, with limestone and clay soils, at 330 meters in elevation. Aged in stainless steel 8-9 months. Red-violet in colour, with aromas of blueberry, black cherry, red grape, licorice, a trace of sage and soft spice. Blackberry, plum, cherry, pomegranate, licorice and good acidity are flanked by grippy tannins. Dark chocolate, dark fruit and the distinctive bitter streak linger between each lush sip.
