⭐️93/100⭐️ Domaine Prieure-Roch “Le Cloud” Ladoix, 2012
8/30/2021, 5:35:46 PM ⭐️93/100⭐️ Domaine Prieure-Roch “Le Cloud” Ladoix, 2012 📍Nuits-Saint-Georges, Côtes d’Or, Bourgogne, France🇫🇷 🍇 100% Pinot Noir ⚡️12,5 % Tasted: August 2020 Henry Frédéric Roch founded Domaine Prieuré Roch in 1988 by buying some parcels of vineyards which Domaine de la Romanée-Conti was selling to finance a large slice of Romanée Saint-Vivan.
Through the years, Henry established a reputation as one of the greatest ambassadors of Bourgogne being an exceptional winemaker, co-director of DRC, related to Lalour Bize-Leroy and a great personality. Sadly, Henry passed away in 2018 in the age of only 56 years, which was a huge loss. But the domaine stands still delivering high class wine in the philosophy of Henry Roch. The domaine is certified biodynamic aiming for the most harmonious biodiversity in the vineyards. The only added nutrition for the vines are compost made from clipped vines (to hold down the yield to a maximum of 25 hl/ha) and cow manure.
When harvesting, only the best selected grapes end at the winery, where they undergo a whole bunch fermentation with indigenous yeast with two daily pipeage for ten days.
The wine matures in 100% new barrique for 18-22 months.
The wine is unfined and unfiltered.
“Le Cloud” has its origin in the village of Ladoix in Côte du Beaune. The vines are +50 years old, and due to the super low yield, only around 7.000 bottles were made.
The bouquet is on fire from the very beginning offering a mysterious and complex nose with fresh and candied cherry, strawberry compote, basil, wet moss, black tea leaves, violets, dried hibiscus, cloves and a hint of mild mushrooms and horse stable. Add that kinda natural fresh scent… The palate is a beautiful mixture of sour cherry, candied strawberry, fresh pomegranate, blood orange peel, cola and white pepper with a mild yeasty touch.
Summarized, it’s super energic, juicy and elegant with a delicate chewy tannic grip and an endless finish - simply one of a kind!
An incredible wine from an incredible producer. An honor to taste!
