I’m a big fan of “experimental” and “small batch” wines, partly because I’ve no idea what I’m going to get, more so because they tend to be delicious, as is the case here 🤗🙌 Greenstone Vineyards Mmm Mataro. Ribena-like, cassis and fruity blackberry on the nose with just a suggestion of savouriness. It’s playful and approachable, a Mataro that ticks all the gluggable, pour-it-down-the-hatch boxes. On the palate it’s a similar story as plush, energetic cassis and plum flavours coat the palate while the typical robustness of Mataro is tamed to that of structure alone. What it lacks in complexity it packs 10 fold in flavour, it’s a bloody tasty drop 🤗🍷👏🏽
