Flavabom Field White Blend 2017 by Byrne Vineyards Rating: B+ Price: $19 Recommendation: Buy. Sophisticated with Tattoos 🍷 Yes, I admit it, I bought this wine because of the label. A mix of pirate tattoos and Mexico's 'day of the dead'. Definitely stands out on the shelf. But I didn't expect such an unique tasting wine to have a label like that (we all stereotype, don't judge) This is rich, full bodied with a touch of elegance especially with oak present. Unusual just a like the label. There is a lot going on. A quick search to see this vineyard is not mucking around. They use a 'secret' blend of Semillon, Chenin Blanc, Muscadelle and Colombard. In addition they use an ancient practice of co-harvesting and blending in the field. Hence the name ‘field white’. Now, I don't know if this type of blending technique is common in Australia but it’s the first time, that I’m aware of, I’ve tasted a wine that is blended this way. The label is unique and the wine backs that up. If this wine is a pirate ship, then it is must be the QEII...simple...
