Since 1790 the Mori family has been growing grapes in the ancient hamlet of Palazzone, near Siena in Toscana. Giacomo Mori practices organic and sustainable methods in both the 10 hectares of vineyards and winery. Grapes are hand harvested from vines in sandy clay, alkaline limestone soils. Fermented in stainless steel, aged for “10-12 months in 20 hectolitre Slavonia and Allier oak barrels, tonneaux of 5 hectolitres, and barriques on the third pouring”, which are, followed by an additional 3-6 months in the bottle. Garnet in colour with layered aromatics of black cherry, raspberry, smoky minerals, grilled fennel, carnation, earth and spice. Cherry, plum, blackberry, black cherry, brambly Tuscan underbrush and crushed black peppercorn wrap around a tarry earth core. Fresh acidity and silky tannins compliment wild berries and cranberry on the smoky, mineral driven finish. Well structured, complex, genteel, a spectacular value. 95% Sangiovese, 5% of Canaiolo and Colorino 13.5% Alcohol Giacomo Mori Chianti DOCG 2013 #sangiovese #toscana #organicwine #tuscany #sustainablewine #chianti #drinkbetter #drinkitalian #vinorosso #chiantilovers #vinoitaliano #winelover #winereview #italianwine #redwine #instavino #instawine #winelife #winestagram #giacomomori #caravino
