5/27/2021, 9:00:16 AM 2014 Dunham Cellars - Syrah (89 pts) @dunhamcellars · ℹ️ This wine is 💯 Syrah that is a blend from a handful of vineyards in the Columbia Valley AVA of Washington. Aged in French and American oak barrels with 30% being new· 👁 Deep ruby color with a pale rim· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of ripe blackberry, raspberry, pommegrante juice, oak, vanilla, cardamom, black pepper, leather, and earthy top soil· 👄 The wine is dry, high acidity, medium+ furry plush tannins, medium+ alcohol, and full body. A medium+ length finish of leather and earthiness· 🔔 Another Interesting Syrah from Washington State. This wine provides a mid-point between cooler climate Northern Rhone Syrah and most riper new world Syrah. How so? This has a ripe fruit profile leading into black fruits over red, verges on preserves without being overripe. This is then counter acted by a high acidity backbone to balance it all out, plus an enjoyable 14.2% ABV. There is a good use of new oak, which could be in either camp. Quite weighty on the palate as well. A lot of people will be happy with this style.
