2/12/2021, 10:53:01 PM 2016 Big Table Farm - Sunnyside Vineyard Pinot Noir (90 pts) @bigtablefarm · 🙋♂️ What attracts you to a wine label❓· ℹ️ Big Table Farm is run by a husband and wife duo. Brian Marcy is the Winemaker, while Clare Carver is the 1 person marketing department and an artist. This wine is 💯 Pinot that is sourced from the Sunnyside Vineyard in the Willamette Valley AVA, Oregon. Roughly 30 year old vines. Brian is old school to say the least. Brian assesses fruit ripeness by taste. They use a basket press and don't even own a destemmer. Native yeast fermentations. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Only 333 cases produced· 👁 Medium ruby color· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of ripe strawberry, ripe red cherry, cherry tomato, smoked meat, oak, campfire, tree bark, and cinnamon· 👄 The wine is dry, high lively acidity, medium ripe tannins, medium+ alcohol, and medium+ body. Very plush mouthfeel. A medium+ length finish of ripe strawberry and cinnamon spice· 🔔 Upon opening this wine was a bit reduced and it took a good amount of time to open up. It was tasted across 3 days and with each sequential day it improved. I love the mouthfeel with it's ripe tannins, but the acidity is the real backbone of the wine. The wine holds it's 14.3% ABV well, I guessed 13.5% when tasting it. There is oak on the wine and it is extremely well integrated. Assuming a very small percentage of new oak. My takeaway is that this needs some time to really shine. It will cellar nicely and should improve significantly with time. As always my scores are right here right now. No crystal ball predictions 🚫🔮
