2016 Big Table Farm - Chardonnay Willamette Valley (91 pts) @bigtablefarm · 🙋‍♂️ What winery just popped onto your wine radar 🍷📡❓· ℹ️ Big Table Farm is run by a husband and wife duo. Brian Marcy is the Winemaker, while Clare Carver is the 1 person marketing department and an artist. This wine is 💯 Chardonnay that is sourced from a blend vineyards across the Willamette Valley, Oregon. Barrel fermented in French oak with 10% being new. Native yeast fermentations. Bottled unfined and unfiltered after 11 months in barrel. Only 910 cases produced· 👁 Medium lemon color, unfiltered· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of reduction, smoke, flint, hazelnut, honeycomb, preserved lemon, baked quince, baked apple, oak, toast, and clove· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ lively acidity, medium alcohol, and medium body. Great creamy texture on the palate. A medium+ length finish of honeycomb and salted nuts· 🔔 I don't speak about packaging often, but I love the simple elegant artwork that adorns each individual label created by Clare Carver. This is not a fruit forward Chardonnay, but this is filled with hazelnuts, rocks, and spice. Sure there is some fruit along the way, but this is definitely on the savory side. The acidity is great, texture is layered, and finish is compelling. Serious and honest wines that deliver. Put them on your Wine Radar 🍷📡❗️
