The Verduno Pelaverga DOC is one of the smallest DOC regions in all of Italy. Currently, there are just over 10 winemakers and only 18 hectares of vines dedicated to the cultivation of the rare Pelaverga grape. Hand harvested grapes are from organically farmed vineyards 240-340 meters in elevation, in the Massara and Olmo crus in the commune of Verduno. The soils are limestone and clay. Fermented in stainless steel, aged for 9 months in stainless steel, followed by 3 months in the bottle before release. Bright transparent ruby red in colour with aromas of candied flowers, cherry, strawberry, raspberry and a trace of anise. Cherry, strawberry, cranberry and a dusting of crushed white peppercorn are framed by light, silky dry tannins and fresh acidity. Red fruits along with a streak of minerality linger on the dry finish. Agile, easy drinking and super food friendly. 100% Pelaverga Piccolo 13.5% Alcohol Castello di Verduno ‘Basadone’ Verduno DOC 2017 #pelaverga #organicwine #verduno #piemonte #drinkbetter #drinkitalian #winereview #vinorosso #winegeek #instavino #winestagram #winelover #vinoitaliano #redwine #italianwine #basadone #castellodiverduno #burlotto #caravino
