1/7/2021, 1:12:28 AM 2015 Hirsch Vineyards - Block 8 Estate Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93 pts) @hirschvineyards @jasminehirsch · 🙋♂️ Have you tried Hirsch Vineyards before❓· ℹ️ Hirsch Vineyards have 68 acres planted to Pinot Noir out in the Sonoma Coast. 61 individual blocks are farmed, harvested, and vinified separately. Block 8 is what they consider to be their Grand Cru and is divided in 5 parcels. The vines were planted in 1993 to heritage Pinot Noir clones. Assuming there around 30% new French oak on this wine· 👁 Medium- ruby color· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of crunchy red fruit, cranberry, redcurrant, red cherry, floral, violets, sweet oak spice, star anise, and gravel· 👄 The wine is dry, high acidity, medium- ripe tannins, medium alcohol, and medium body. Well integrated notes from oak spice. Long length finish that ends with notes of ripe strawberry, redcurrant, and wet rock· 🔔 This wine has a lot of concentration and depth to it. This is highest alcohol of all the Hirsch Vineyards wine at a whopping 13.2% ABV 🤣. These wines are so good. This is a better candidate for cellaring, it needed quite a bit of air to open up so I used my vSpin @openyourwine for a few minutes. 2015 seems like a great vintage this is the 2nd time tasting this wine and checking my notes it impressed me then too. Some of California's finest Pinots.
