2017 Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon - Mâcon-Villages (87 pts) @lafon .dom @beauneimports · 🙋‍♂️ What is your favorite value Chardonnay❓· 🗓0️⃣5️⃣ Wine Advent Calendar· This wine was chosen to highlight what quality $20 Chardonnay should taste like and show that there are still values in the greater Burgundy region· ℹ️ This wine is 💯 Chardonnay from Mâcon in the southernmost part of Burgundy. This area has received a heavy investment from the Legendary Dominique Lafon. He has purchased numerous old vine parcels on ideal hillside locations. Additionally he converted all of the vineyards to Biodynamic Viticulture. 25 year old vines. Caroline Gon is the winemaker. Only indigenous yeasts and large neutral oak foudré are used· 👁 Medium lemon color· 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of lemon peel, orange zest, yellow apple, tangerine, and pomelo· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, and medium body. More expressive on the palate. Medium length finish of tangerine and a slight saltiness· 🔔 This wine is $22 and this shames most other quality Chardonnay at this price point. This wine is subtle on the nose, but more open on the palate. Great acidity as well. I want to mention that there are several other bottlings in this line. They are a few dollars more, but totally worth it. For this wine advent calendar I was looking for value.
