The organic Springvale vineyard planted in 2000 is situated at Watervale’s highest elevation (465 metres) on a gradual, mainly north facing slope where the soil is thin red loams interspersed with shale over limestone. This highly sustaining profile insulates the drought sensitive riesling vines, which produce lime-green medium-sized berries· 👁 Pale lemon color· 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of lemon, green apple, underripe peach, Nectarine, acacia, and cherry blossom· 👄 The wine is dry, high laser-like acidity, medium- alcohol, and medium- body. The finish is medium length with tart green apple and floral notes· 🔔 Grosset is by far my favorite Australian Riesling producer. These wines have such high acidity and tension to them that they always drink better after a few years of aging. This is a pleasant wine now, but still very primal. The Polish Hill is a lot more polished 😂 and is my preferred choice for a tad bit more money.
