2016 Roland Lavantureux - Chablis Grand Cru Bougros (92 pts) @kermitlynchwine · 🙋‍♂️ What is your favorite Chardonnay region❓· ℹ️ This wine is 💯 Chardonnay. Average vine age of 30 years old on Kimmeridgian Limestone and Clay. Fermented in Barrel. Aged in Barrel for 12 months with 20% new. In Chablis the 2016 vintage was challenging to say the least and production was reduced by 50%. The hillside with the Grand Crus was largely spaired from the 2 major hailstorms· 👁 Pale lemon color· 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of sunflower seeds, chalk, ripe green apple, ripe pear, earth, smoke, and licorice· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, and medium body. Good weight and texture. Flavors on the palate are more vibrant than the nose. Medium+ length finish that is chalky· 🔔 First time trying this bottling. The nose was a tad subdued, but the palate was expressive, crisp acidity, and weighty at the same time. One of the delicate dances that only Grand Cru Chablis can perform. A very good wine from the excellent importer Kermit Lynch.
