NV Keush - Origins Brut (87 pts) @keushbubbly · 🙋‍♂️ What is your favorite value sparkling wine❓· ℹ️ This is a Non Vintage Traditional Method sparkling wine from the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia. The vineyards are at a very elevation 1500-1700 m above sea level and are South facing. Soils are a mix of limestone and Volcanic rock. This is made from 2 indigenous 🍇 grapes Voskehat and Khatouni. Some places have referred to Voskehat as the queen of Armenian grapes. The wine is aged on its lees a minimum of 22 months. They have a consulting winemaker, Jerome Barret, who is from Champagne· 👁 Pale lemon color, persistent medium bubbles· 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of yeast, brioche, peanuts, mineral, charcoal, earthy, necatarine, and Asian pear· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, and medium- body. The bubbles fade a tad fast on the palate. Flavors of brioche, yeasts, and nuts initially. Then there is this unique earthy, licorice, smokey note. Ends in subtle flavors of white flowers and necatarine. Finish is medium length· 🔔 If I was tasting this blind, I would have thought it was a Cava with long lees aging. I know very little about these grapes and don't know what flavors are associated with the grape profile. On wine-searcher this ranges from $16-$25. This is a well made sparkling wine with significant time on lees. Better than many new world sparkling wines at this price point and above. This is a solid value 👍
