2014 Domaime Aurélien Verdet - Morey-Saint-Denis (90 pts) #winereview · 🙋‍♂️What was the last wine you bought because it was on sale❓· ℹ️ Purchased this wine @klwines for $30 with a suggested price of $65. I was tipped off by a friend that worked at Treasury Wine Estates that these were good and balanced wines, especially at this price. This plot of land is located just above the Grand Cru Clos de Tart. The domaine uses minimal sulphur, indigenous yeasts, long vinifications, and no more than 1/3 new oak· 👁 Medium- ruby color· 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of dirt, dust, red currant, Bing cherry, tree bark, charcoal, and violets· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium spicy tannins, medium alcohol, and medium body. Great velvety texture. More fruit than earth on those. Red currant, Bing cherry, red plum, and cherry tomato. The oak flavors take over the mid palate with smokiness and tree bark. The finish is medium length with rocks and red fruits· 🔔 Well made wine. Scored without considering price. Super earthy nose with a brighter palate. Oak is noticeable, but not out of place. The texture makes this wine more complex and complete. This should improve for a few years.
