2000, 2009, & 2004 Domaine de la Poussed'Or - Volnay 1er

Let me start off by saying that this Domaine had one of the oldest lineups at the tasting· 2000 was in the perfect drinking window and was my favorite of the lineup. This had a lot of dried fruit, earthiness, and black tea notes. Tannins were resolved and lacking the spiciness that I often get from Volnay. I would not sit on this bottle much longer. ⚠️Caveat - I prefer mature 🍷· 2009 probably has the best pedigree due to it's vintage. Definitely brighter and riper fruit than the 2000. A lot of density and spice on the palate. Needs time to shed some of ripe fruit and take on more elegance. It will get there· 2004 vintage overall is probably my least favorite vintage in the last 2 decades in Burgundy. I appreciate that this was shown to highlight the Domaine 'old fruit selection of that year after talking with Mr Landanger. It was the leanest of the group and was missing the velvety texture that is the hallmarks of Volnay. Not a bad 2004, but NOT even in the same weight class as the 2009. I do respect the educational choice to show this vintage 👊🤓· #france #burgundy #cotedebeaune #volnay #volnay1ercru #pinotnoir #domainedelapoussedor #lapoussedor #poussedor #closdes60ouvrees #monopole #wine #vin #vino #vinho #wein #winelover #winegeek #winetasting #wsetdiploma #winestagram #wineterroir #sommelier #winelife #wineoclock #postmorewine #lovewine #winetime #wineporn #instawine
