1983 Chateau d'Yquem - Recently a lot of Instagram friends have been posting their bottles of Yquem so I figured I should do the same 😉. People refer to Sauternes as "nectar of the gods" , but I will challenge that and say that only Chateau d'Yquem is worthy of that tagline. No other sweet wine comes close to its power and finesse. This balance year over year is what makes it impeccable. And I shed a tear 😥 for everyone that is drinking these precious 🍷 without at least 20 years of bottle age. The 1983 was epic as usual. Great notes of honey, roasted pineapple, dried mango, dried apricot, dried dates, sultana, vanilla, clove, and new plastic (my note for botrytis). Palate was luscious but with great ripping acidity. Viscous and light at the same time. I could drink this all night. I still prefer 89 and 90, but this is up there.
