Blind vermouth tasting this week. This time tasting a flight of Blanc Vermouths (aka sweet white vermouth). I was really impressed by Hammer & Tongs Sec' Resin vermouth from Portland from Pinot Blanc grapes. It had a complex nose, was less sweet than the others, and had a nutty citrus profile that resonated with me. Lustau Vermut Blanco (Jerez) from Pedro Ximenez grapes smelled dry and was very sweet on the palate which felt disjointed to me. It was also quite simple in flavor profile. Finally Alysians bittersweet vermouth called Earth, Wood, & Flower from Chardonnay (Sonoma) was dark and brooding. I could not get past the aroma of cinnamon brown sugar instant oatmeal.
