2012 Kabaj - Sivi Pinot (90 pts) #winereview - Medium
1/17/2021, 8:40:57 AM 2012 Kabaj - Sivi Pinot (90 pts) #winereview - Medium orange almost onion skin color. Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of dried apricot, honey, peach tea, lemon zest, dried flowers, oak, tree bark, and bruised apple (apple cider). The wine is dry, medium acidity, low gritty tannin due to skin contact, medium alcohol, and medium+ body. Strong Lipton sun tea note, white peach, lemon zest, subtle oak notes, smoke, dried apricot, honey, orange marmalade, and bread dough note from lees aging. Great texture on the wine, that catches you off guard. Gritty tannins that turn into a chalky minerality. Medium+ length finish that lingers of chalk, dried apricot, and tea. Almost an umami feeling. As this wine warmed up it got better and better. This wine is a deal for anyone wanting to taste quality orange wine at a fraction of the price to some of the big boys in Friuli. Again, it's not the same league but a valiant effort. #slovenia #goriskabrda #brda #kabaj #sivipinot #pinotgris #wineterroir #wine #winegeek #winelover #winetasting
