Blind Barbera group tasting results - bottles in order of the group ranking 1) 2008 Vignetti Massa Monleale Barbera Colli Tortonesi - oldest wine of the group and showing a lot of tertiary notes and complexity 2) 2013 Pomodolce Cherubino Vino Rosso - my top wine, interesting that it's a Vino Rosso 3) 2015 Il Falchetto Bricco Paradiso Barbera d'Asti - very mineral driven with a fair amount of oak 4) 2010 Scarpa Barbera d'Asti Nizza Monferrato - my 3rd wine but moved up as we tasted, very floral and elegant 5) 2013 Pira Chiara Boschis Barbera d'Alba - my 2nd wine, this was high toned and lighter than the other wines almost Cru Beajolais in style 6) 2013 Giacamo Conterno Barbera d'Alba Vigna Cerretta - sadly this was rated in the bottom half, notes of cooked cherries and herbal tea, lacked complexity 7) 2014 Bartolo Mascarerello Barbera d'Alba - a touch of volatile acidity but a lot of herbal notes and spice that turned people away 8) 2010 Guasti Clemente & Figli Barbera d'Asti Boschetto Vecchio - so much volatile acidity and reduction that it was hard to drink, not a fan of nail polish remover in our wine 9) 2014 Rici Barbarossa Barbera Colli Tortonesi - only worse than VA is Brett, burnt rubber meets barnyard for the bottom of the barrel. #italy #piedmont #barbera #wineterroir #wine #winegeek #winelover #winetasting
