10/22/2021, 11:37:51 PM 2008 Scammacca del Murgo Extra Brut (85 pts) - I must be honest. I didn't want to like this wine. Etna has so much going on and trying to do sparkling well seemed hard. I asked around everyone in Sicily in wine said try the Murgo it shows terroir and promise. This wine is interesting. The nose screams of milk chocolate covered hazelnuts, dark cherries, and cassis. There are a lot of autolytic notes (yeast, nutiness, brioche) on the nose and palate. Good acidity as with all Etna wines. The weight of this wine us impressive. Solid lingering finish. I would love to see how this ages. Murgo is a bigger estate in Etna and I would like to see other serious sparkling efforts. The value of this wine in my mind is based on its price point as a champagne alternative. #wine #terroir #winereview #winelover
