At the end of September or beginning of October, bunches are dried on bamboo racks. By mid-February, the grapes weigh 35-40% less, and only Corvina is affected by botrytis. Making sure the grapes dry correctly is essential as these racks can be a bacterial hotbed if not managed successfully · 1️⃣ 2012 Masi - Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico· 🔔 Campolongo di Torbe is a single vineyard. The blend is 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Molinara. This vintage only has about 7 g/l of residual sugar, but the mouthfeel is stunning and silky due to the Botrytis influenced Corvina. The wine is very concentrated and incredibly layered. Absolutely stunning and on par with the 2011· 2️⃣ 2013 Masi - Riserva di Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella Classico· 🔔 This Riserva wine is also an exceptional Cru of Masi. Costasera's vineyards are above Lake Garda facing the sun and lake. The blend is 70% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, 10% Oseleta, and 5% Molinara (the unique Oseleta grape was rediscovered by Masi). This wine was bolder than Campolongo di Torbe and came across as sweeter and more oak-influenced. Definitely a robust wine, but more of an after-dinner drink due to the power.
