There’s a lot to be said for wines that’re entirely themselves, from a place and not pretending to be anything other. This Neds Vineyard Pyrenees Shiraz, The Gold Diggers Ghost, is precisely this. A great introduction to Shiraz from the Pyrenees region which delivers a fruit forward nose of ripe blackcurrants and blackberries, a touch of sweet red berries and hint of oak. Lush and bright on the palate, dark fruit sweetness, and oaky vanillin, clean crisp acidity and fine tannin. It’s uncomplicated in an entirely positive way, such an easy drinker, the perfect I shouldn’t, but I will wine!
