MV Krug - Grande Cuvée 166 Ème Édition Brut (93 pts) @krugchampagne @krugoli · 🙋‍♂️ Do you like the concept of multi-vintage editions❓· ℹ️ This is a multi-vintage blend of Champagne, based on the 2010 vintage for the base. The wine is 45% Pinot Noir, 39% Chardonnay, and 16% Meunier. 140 different wines from 13 different vintages are used to assemble this edition of the Grande Cuvée. The youngest is 2010 and the oldest is 1996. 42% of the blend comes from reserve wines. The wines are fermented in oak, but matured in stainless steel tanks. The wine then spends at least 7 years on lees before release· 👁 Pale gold color· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of saltine crackers, marzipan, bread dough, toast, caramel, yellow apple, Meyer lemon, nectarine, sour cherry, chalk, and dried flowers· 👄 The wine is dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (12%), and medium body. A long length finish of chalk, saltine crackers, and lemon peel· 🔔 Krug is Krug. Krug is always good, if not great. I have always been a fan of the house style and love the transparency of what is in the bottle, as seen through the Krug ID. This edition continues to get better every time I taste it. The nose is showing more diversity. Meanwhile, the palate has put on weight and is quite broad. The great chalky texture on the palate that guides you to the lengthy finish. Ready to drink now, but can improve with additional cellaring.
