Gilda and Edoardo took over their pioneering winemaker grandfather’s estate upon his sudden death in 2011. Located in La Spezia, Liguria, the 9 hectares of vineyards are farmed organically and with low intervention. Grapes are from vines in silica/limestone soils. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, “macerates for one week on the skins, aged in large neutral oak”, unfined, unfiltered. Light amber in colour, with aromas of apricot, nectarine, orange marmalade, wildflowers, honey, a trace of caramel and clove. Mandarin orange, nectarine, apricot, citrus blossom, lemon and honey glide atop light green tea tannins and fresh acidity. Baked pear and a hint of peach linger on the nutty finish.
