Wanting to move to the country and revitalize his family’s old vines, Leonardo Sassi collaborated with visionary, natural winemaker and Umbrian native, Danilo Marcucci. The small, 3 hectare estate is located in Sabina, in Lazio, near the border with Umbria. Vineyards are farmed organically and with minimal intervention. Skin maceration for 5 days, fermented with indigenous easts in small open top resin tanks. Aged in fiberglass. Unfiltered, no sulphur added. Red violet in colour with aromas of morello cherry, baked cherry, wildflowers, truffle, forest floor, peppery spice and a wisp of eucalyptus. Juicy cherry, pomegranate, raspberry and earth fold over a spicy core of smoky chili pepper, framed by fresh acidity and good tannins.
