So I went to Aldi and bought three wines to try. I have never tried Aldi wine before so this was exciting. Cheap is an understatement, but are they any good? To start: $8 A.C. Byrne & Co Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc Semillon Rating: C- Buy Again: No For $8 it is a white wine. That’s about it. It’s not bad but It doesn't have much of anything. I love wine and I drink wine because I enjoy all the elements of a wine. I don't buy wine because its cheap or "I just want a drink" otherwise I'll have a beer. So if you just want a wine, It is good value and it does over deliver for that price, I guess. So for $8, I get this wine, I understand it and would recommend it to anyone that wants to have a little white wine after work. But that’s about it. 🍷 So, it was off to a okay start, but it went down very quickly. 🍷 $10 A.C. Byrne & Co McLaren Vale Shiraz Not Recommended Buy Again: No There is no real taste, no length. It's just a drink. Even at $10, I don't think it is worth it. A couple more dollars gets you so much more (see other posts) $10 Château Les Maurins Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot Not Recommended Buy Again: No My Mum once said, "If you have nothing good to say, say nothing" 🍷 I'm disappointed. Aldi are advertising these are award winning wines (thats why I picked these three) but the last award for the Bordeaux for the 2014 vintage and for the Shiraz it was a Bronze at the 2015 Riverina Wine Show. Nothing related to these vintages 😖 I understand the price point, but I think there are so many better wines around $15. For example; Peter Lehmann Portrait series for around $14 or Batch X, which usually around $15. I would rather choose these any day of the week. I did buy a Pinot for $13 and a Barossa Shiraz for $18 from Aldi on the same day. They will be reviewed in the future but I'm scared.
