Located in the Tuscan coast region of Maremma, 60 miles southwest of Florence, Guado al Tasso has belonged to the iconic Antinori family since 1932 when Niccolò Antinori married Carlotta of the noble Gherardesca family [Piero Antinori’s parents]. Vineyard soil is alluvial, with silty-sand to sandy texture. Grapes were harvested and fermented separately, “delicately crushed and transferred to the press for a short maceration period, from 3 to 5 hours, at low temperatures to intensify the richness of emerging aromatic qualities”. Fermented in stainless steel, blended, then bottled in January 2019. Coral pink in colour, with delicate aromas of pink grapefruit, cherry and citrus. A floral hint dusts cherry, red currant and citrus acidity. Peppery spice accents the dry, fruity finish. Well balanced, straightforward, silky and gluggable.
