Zippy, Steely Albariño for Sultry Summer Castro Martin ‘Sobre Lias’ Rías Baixas 2016 From sustainably farmed El Pazo and Castrelo vineyards in Val do Salnés in northwestern Galicia, the birthplace of Albariño. 160-to-820 feet in elevation, with a sandy mix of granite and quartz soils, vines average 50 years in age. Hand harvested, fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks, aged on the lees for 5 to 6 months in steel. Light gold in colour, with aromas of herbs, grapefruit, pineapple and spice. Racy acidity glazes lemon, apricot, pineapple, pear, legume, herbs and earthy minerality. Nutty bitterness compliments the bright citrus finish. 100% Albariño 12.5% Alcohol Adegas Valmiñor ‘Serra da Estrela’ Rías Baixas 2018 From a 35 hectare, sustainably farmed vineyard in the O Rosal area of southern Galicia with metamorphic schist soil. Fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel. Pale gold in colour, with aromas of lime, grapefruit, white flowers and stone fruits. Pear, green apple, citrus, a trace of grilled herbs and light spice are framed by steely acidity.
