2001 Franciscan - Oakville Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (87
7/26/2021, 10:04:59 AM 2001 Franciscan - Oakville Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (87 pts) @franciscanwines · 🙋♂️ Do you ever stumble upon wines❓· ℹ️ The wine is a majority Cabernet Sauvignon from the Oakville AVA, Napa Valley, California. My assumption is that there are a few percentage points of other Bordeaux blend varieties in this wine. This was something that I found in my cellar and cannot recall how or when it was acquired· 👁 Deep garnet color with a pale rim· 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of dried blackcurrant, black cherry, oak, sandalwood, herbal, marjoram, and tobacco· 👄 The wine is dry, medium acidity, medium- gritty tannins, medium+ alcohol, and medium+ body. A lot of sediment. A medium- length finish of sandalwood and dried black fruit· 🔔 Based on current pricing this wine was probably a steal for $20+. This is pretty good for the price point. It has maxed out its aging potential and is starting to decline. It has a ton of sediment which coats the glass and mouth. Not a bad effort. Wines of all price points can be cellared.
