One of my favorite Barbaresco producers.
I was lucky enough to visit the winery back in 2018 with some fellow wine friends, having a lovely vineyard walk and a mouth-watering tasting. If you get the chance, drop by for a visit! The small family-run winery, located in the beautiful surroundings of the village of Neive, produces wine with love and care (also about to get their organic certification - if they haven’t already got it..?). They proudly produce around 40K bottles a year from their 10 hectares.
Neive is home to some of the most powerful and structured wines of Barbaresco - this wine lives 100 percent up to the image.
Already from the beginning, powerful aromas cover your nostrils hitting the brain immediately after - giving you what you expect. And what you want from a top Barbaresco...
Well, give it some time in the decanter anyways…
The nose brings harmonious balance between fruit and tertiary notes - raspberry, pomegranate, dusty claypot, dried rose petals, tar, leather, chanterelles and cloves.
The palate is medium-bodied with sour cherry, almond, orange peel, raisins, cedar and a clear mineral tone.
It’s still quite tannic, and has a some more years of excellence.
The finish is medium long with a fine balsamic touch. Finally, don’t forget to look at that pomegranate color.
