⭐️87/100⭐️ Jamieson Ranch Vineyards “Reata - Three County” Pinot Noir, 2017 📍Napa Valley, California, USA🇺🇸 🍇100% Pinot Noir ⚡️14,4% Tasted: March 2020 Every year, Jamieson Ranch (the most southern situated winery of Napa) produce their “Three County”-Pinot, based on grapes from, you got it, three different counties. The combination can change due to vintage, but it’s always from premium vineyards of celebrated areas - in this case we’re having a blend of Monterey, Sonoma and San Benito. The estate grows several different clones of Pinot Noir, including “Pisoni” from La Tâche, which is also a part of this Reata wine. Dark red - almost black with purple edges. This is not your light Pinot friend - this is big mamma: full-bodied, powerful, bold and fruit-generous. Heavy bouquet with lots of smokey blackberries, plums and chocolate. All aromas are extremely ripe and spicy. The texture is very creamy and smooth. Baked blackberry tart and cherry fills your mouth followed by vanilla, chocolate and a bit of liquorice. Unfortunately, I think it lacks a bit of acidity to balance all the heavy flavors and the 14,4% of alcohol. But still, it’s not overly sweet (and far from vulgar). It’s definitely worth a try and an interesting wine, if you’re thirsty for jammy Pinot. Better cool it down a bit.
