2017 Brick & Mortar - Vin Pétilant @brickandmortarwines · ℹ️ This wine is a blend of 51% Pinot Noir and 49% Chardonnay. The grapes come from the Home Block Vineyard in the heart of Carneros in the Sonoma Coast. This wine is a blend of two other wines (75%) Vin Clair and (25%) Vin Rubis each has the same ratio of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Before completing the alcoholic fermentation, the wine is bottled and capped. The remaining yeast consumes the residual sugar in the wine creating alcohol and CO2. The trapped CO2 becomes bubbles in the wine. The wine ferments to full dryness. The wines are hand riddled and disgorged prior to release· 👁 Pale pink-orange color, cloudy· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of pink grapefruit, blood orange, Meyer lemon, orange blossom, red apple, and underripe strawberry· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium- alcohol (11.5%), and medium body. Surprisingly fine and creamy bubbles for a pet nat. A medium length finish of ripe pink grapefruit and orange blossom· 🔔 The color on this wine was striking to me, looking more like a rosé from Provence. Love the aromatics on this wine with a lot of citrus aromas that are not often found. This wine well technical “natural” is squeaky clean. There is a precision to this wine in its utter dryness, and of course, the dialed-in fine bubbles. This wine is oh so drinkable and crushing a few bottles of vin péillant at a beach picnic sounds divine· 💰 ~$30
